General Motors

General Motors CFO Paul Jacobson shared that the company expects its 2025 adjusted earnings to remain within the same range as projected for 2024, between $13 billion and $15 billion. This stability is notable as the auto industry anticipates a challenging 2025. GM plans to benefit from $2 billion to $4 billion in additional electric vehicle (EV) earnings and continued profitability in its traditional gas-powered models. The company also aims to streamline operations for better efficiency and reduced costs. Despite the EV sales target being revised to around 200,000 units for 2024, CEO Mary Barra noted that GM expects EV production profitability by year’s end.

TikTok

Thirteen U.S. states and Washington, D.C., have filed lawsuits against TikTok, accusing the platform of harming young users by using addictive content to increase engagement and advertising revenue. The lawsuits claim TikTok exploits children’s vulnerability, fails to protect their mental health, and has ineffective content moderation. TikTok refuted the claims, stating that it offers various safety features, including screen time limits and privacy settings for minors. Additionally, the D.C. Attorney General alleges TikTok’s virtual currency and live streaming features operate like an unlicensed money transmission service.
