DoorDash

DoorDash has agreed to acquire British delivery firm Deliveroo in a £2.9 billion ($3.9 billion) deal, offering a 44% premium on Deliveroo’s share price prior to the announcement. The move signals DoorDash’s push to broaden its international footprint, adding over 40 countries to its coverage. Deliveroo, once a high-profile IPO that struggled post-listing, sees its public chapter ending amid ongoing consolidation in the food delivery sector. The companies aim to support more local businesses with enhanced tech and logistics. DoorDash stated the terms are final unless a competing bid emerges.

OpenAI

OpenAI has reversed its plan to shift full control to a for-profit structure, announcing that its nonprofit parent will remain in charge. This decision comes after public pushback, legal pressure, and a lawsuit from co-founder Elon Musk, who accused the company of straying from its original mission. OpenAI had proposed becoming a public benefit corporation to raise capital more easily but has now opted for a hybrid model where the nonprofit will retain control while still allowing new investment. CEO Sam Altman called the outcome a compromise that keeps investors satisfied, and the company will work with Microsoft and regulators to finalize the updated structure. Concerns remain over how much oversight the nonprofit will retain and whether OpenAI's mission to benefit humanity will stay central.
