Top Stories Today
CrowdStrike
CrowdStrike’s stock dropped nearly 6% Wednesday after the cybersecurity firm issued disappointing revenue projections for the current quarter, citing lingering effects from last summer’s major service disruption. The company expects quarterly revenue between $1.14 billion and $1.15 billion, falling short of analysts’ $1.16 billion target. Although CrowdStrike surpassed earnings expectations and raised its full-year profit outlook, revenue growth was tempered by the recent phase-out of customer incentive packages and ongoing government inquiries into revenue practices. The company also announced a $1 billion stock buyback plan.
Reddit & Anthropic
Reddit has filed a lawsuit against AI company Anthropic, accusing it of using Reddit’s platform and user data without permission to train its artificial intelligence models. The complaint, submitted in San Francisco, argues that Anthropic’s actions violate Reddit’s terms and harm the company by exploiting its content for commercial gain. Reddit contrasts this behavior with companies like OpenAI and Google, which have entered licensing agreements to access Reddit data. Anthropic, valued at $61.5 billion, denies wrongdoing and intends to fight the claims. Reddit, which went public in 2024, is seeking damages and a jury trial to enforce its rights and protect its community content.
