Top Stories Today

Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban has unveiled Harbinger Sports Partners, a $750 million private equity fund aimed at purchasing minority interests in U.S. professional sports teams. The fund, launched with partners Rashaun Williams and Steve Cannon, will target stakes of 1% to 5% in up to 92 franchises across major leagues, with individual investments ranging from $50 million to $150 million. As league policies now permit such investments, the fund plans to use a data-led strategy to identify promising opportunities. Cuban, who retains a minority interest in the Dallas Mavericks, will also assist teams with financial planning and strategy.

U.S. Consumer Sentiment

Americans are growing more concerned that trade levies will drive prices up, according to new data from the University of Michigan. Preliminary findings for May show consumer sentiment fell to 50.8, nearing a record low. Expectations for inflation over the next year jumped significantly, while long-term outlooks also edged higher. Much of the survey was conducted before a 90-day freeze on U.S.–China tariffs was announced, which may have affected responses. Analysts and policymakers are watching these expectations closely, as they play a key role in shaping future monetary policy decisions.
