Red Lobster

Damola Adamolekun, the former CEO of P.F. Chang's, has been appointed as the new CEO of Red Lobster following the court's approval of the restaurant chain's bankruptcy plan. The chain, which filed for bankruptcy in Florida in May with approximately $300 million in debt, plans to close some locations and reorganize under RL Investor Holdings, a newly formed entity backed by lenders including Fortress Investment Group. Red Lobster will continue to operate as an independent company, maintaining its 544 locations across 44 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces. Adamolekun's leadership is expected to guide the company through its restructuring and future growth efforts.

Technology

Apple

Apple announced that it will hold a press event at its Cupertino headquarters on Monday, September 9, where the company is expected to reveal the latest iPhones and Apple Watch models. The event will be streamed live on Apple's website and YouTube, continuing the trend of virtual launches since 2020. This year’s iPhones, likely named the iPhone 16, are rumored to feature larger screens, a redesigned camera bump, and possibly a new color. The updated Apple Watches are anticipated to come with a faster chip. Alongside the hardware, Apple typically announces the release date for its new iPhone software, iOS 18, which will introduce "Apple Intelligence," a set of AI features designed for everyday use. However, these AI features may not be available until shortly after the hardware launch. The event invitation, with the tagline “It’s Glowtime,” suggests a significant update to Siri’s interface.
